Formed in 1988 at the Victorian College of the Arts, Shrewd have been performing shows around Australia and in Singapore for over 20 years.
Originally the group formed to busk in Bourke St mall to help line our pockets in student days. We were picked up by the Comedy Club "The Last Laugh" to perform a three month show, then discovered by Musica Viva Australia, and we've been performing in collaboration with Musica Viva doing school shows and Country Wide concerts ever since.
Shrewd Brass has now performed over 1500 school shows Australia-wide, including primary and secondary schools, and tour Singapore every year.
High velocity, informative, and fun, the five incredible players of Shrewd Brass take students through an in-depth look at the instruments, exploring their mechanics and distinctive tone, and their particularly versatile nature. The music spans classical, rock and jazz, and provides great opportunities for students to interact in this highly participatory program.

All you have to do is cover the performance cost, organise the venue and take care of local marketing and publicity. You sell the tickets and keep the box office takings.
Shrewd Brass has performed in places such as Cobar, Coonabarabran, Northern Queensland, Wagga Wagga. In 2009 we have engagements in Mount Beauty and Bateman's Bay.
